Opportunities From: Springfield Rescue Mission

Volunteers will assemble table favors for guests coming to the Gala. Work will be done on the 2nd floor Development office.

Volunteers will take part in a New Volunteer Orientation which includes an overview of the Rescue Mission’s programs, services and volunteer opportunities. Volunteers will receive a Volunteer Packet and have a brief tour of the main facility.

Parking:

Enter our parking lot from the Mill St. gate across from Bay State Plumbing. Stop at the Guard Shack. You will be directed to parking and to enter through the Visitor Entrance door.

Please refrain from wearing perfume/cologne.

Volunteers will be assembling custom paddles needed for the live auction. Materials and instructions will be provided. Includes cutting intricate shapes and use of glue.

Volunteers will help create decor for the Gala on site with other staff members at the Rescue Mission. Please contact volunteer Coordinator for more information.

Volunteers will help finish wrapping Gift Baskets and any other loose ends regarding Gala decor, oorganizing and assembling Gift Cards for Gift CArd Tree, etc.

Volunteers will assist guests with purchases of Gift Cards at the Gift Card Tree.

Volunteers are needed to monitor the tables of gift items and gift baskets that gala participants will bid on. Guests may need help with finding a specific item or how the bidding process works.

Volunteers needed to help set up For the Gala event in the Log Cabin's main dining room. Tasks include set up of table, wall /floor decor items, and silent auction tables, etc.

Volunteers will help with removing decor and packing up supplies, etc. to return after the event is over.

Volunteers will sort, organize and document retail tags from donations for the donor office. Days and times are flexible. Contact Volunteer Coordinator if interested. 413-732-0808 Ext. 220.

Volunteers will provide a dinner meal for the homeless men in the Rescue Mission's Men's Emergency Shelter and the graduated men in the Transitional Living Program. Volunteers should plan to provide for 40 men. Registered volunteers may choose to stay to serve; drop off meals should arrive for 4pm

Meals can be dropped off by 4:00pm of the scheduled day. Please label and date the meal if dropped off prior to scheduled date.

Taylor St. Shelter can only accommodate maximum of 4 volunteers.

Dinner is served promptly at 5:00 pm.

Volunteers will help prepare the lunch bags and load the van with food, water, and other items to be distributed at various locations to the homeless and poverty-stricken in the community.

Please remember to follow the lead of the SRM Chaplain in all locations when serving the homeless. He has the right to guide and direct volunteers in order to keep all concerned safe and at peace.

Dress for the weather!

One of the most rewarding ways to volunteer is to make a meal for the Residents in the Men's New Life Rehabilitation Program. This is a tremendous help to the Rescue Mission. Volunteers should plan for 25-30 men. Meals range from pizza and grinders, to casserole dishes, spaghetti and meatballs, cold-cut sandwiches, chicken dishes, burgers and dogs and everything in between. Side dishes and salads are always appreciated.

Meals can be dropped off by 4:00pm of the scheduled day. Please label and date the meal if dropped off prior to scheduled date.

Registered volunteers can stay to serve if desired.

Volunteers will arrive at 10:00am help prepare and serve Lunch for:

·       Residents, staff, volunteers & visitors: 12pm - 12:30pm

·       Homeless/community guests - 12:30pm - 1pm followed by clean up.

Please remember to wear your SRM baseball cap or other hat, closed toe shoes and tie long hair back. (SRM can provide mesh hair coverings if needed.)

Breakfast: 6:00am – 8:00am

Volunteers will arrive at 6 a.m. to help prepare and serve breakfast to residents and the public followed by clean up.

Breakfast for residents is at 6:30; Breakfast for the public is at 7 a.m.

Enter the Public Breakfast Door to the left of the Visitor Entrance. Volunteers may park in the spaces in front of that door.
